Food & Drink

Traditional Lakeland Inn, fine ales and homecooked food

The cosy bar, with its open fire and large farmhouse table, is reserved for drinking only. There are 3 hand-pumps offering a variety of real ales. Kirkland Blonde from Chadwick’s Brewery in Kendal can be found alongside others, including Cracker from Barngates Brewery near Ambleside and RIPA (Red IPA) from Cross Bay Brewery in Morecambe. Local Cumbrian Pilsner from Tirril Brewery is always available. A carefully selected wine list offers a range of wines by the bottle and by the glass. In the summer farmhouse cider is available and in winter Mulled Cider and Mulled Wine are a warming alternative to beer.

Head Chef Michael runs the kitchen at the Blacksmiths Arms. We pride ourselves on using local suppliers who guarantee quality produce. You will often find Beef and Herdwick Lamb on the menu, which has been reared here, in the Lickle Valley. Our food has been recognised by inclusion in – The Good Food Guide, The AA Pub Guide, Alistair Sawdays Pubs and Inns, The Good Pub Guide and in September we were awarded the Best Country Pub 2017, by Bay Radio.

Due to Covid 19 bookings are now essential. Please call 01229 716824 to make a reservation.
