The Lickle Valley is popular walking country and you will find walks to suit all ranges of ability, from gentle riverside walks, forestry walks and more strenuous fell walks. Footpaths cross over the Lake District fells into the Duddon Valley, or up onto Stickle, Caw, White Pike and onto Coniston Old Man.
The pretty market town of Broughton in Furness is 2 miles to the south. The nearby Lake District village of Coniston provides a wealth of activities - be it boating or wild swimming in the lake or climbing Coniston Old Man, the highest peak in the Southern Lake District Fells or simply taking in the breath taking views.
